| U9 Lionesses - Team Summary | News |
Introduction
The U8 Lionesses are open to girls from School Years 1, 2 and 3. We have an enthusiastic group who play alongside the older girls from 9am to 10am on Saturday mornings on Sheen Common. The girls come from a number of different schools in the area. The focus at this age prioritises fun and exercise with the girls enjoying practice and games in small groups. The aim is for the girls to get some tiring exercise on a Saturday morning, while also learning football skills. While the emphasis may be on fun, the coaching is provided by qualified and experienced FA Level 2 coaches who are up to date with current FA coaching philosophies emphasising the development of a love of the game and individual technique rather than winning matches. The group looks to play occasional matches or mini tournaments a couple of times a term. In November 2010 the squad had an enjoyable morning at Colne Valley Football Club playing informal matches against a couple of other teams. We are open to any girl of the right age who wishes to join us, irrespective of ability or experience. Please contact Bob Ukiah (ukiah@sheenlions.com) or simply turn up at Sheen Common on a Saturday morning. |
